Day 1 - 2011 National Tourette Syndrome Association Youth Ambassador Training

As mentioned in an earlier post, my son Kenny was nominated and selected this year to represent the states of Washington/Oregon at the National Tourette Syndrome Association Youth Ambassador/Leadership Conference at our Nation's Capital in Washington D.C. At this conference both Kenny and I received training on how to advocate for those diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome by educating students, teachers, parents and the community on what this disorder entails and how we can provide support. Kenny meeting other kids around the nation also diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome.
New friendships made! - Evan and Kenny
Laura Preskin instructing parents and Youth Ambassadors on what to expect in the next two days while becoming trained.

Congratulations Kenny! - January 2011

Last night, Kenny and I kicked off the first South Puget Sound Support Group Meeting at Life Center Church in Tacoma. We were honored to have Todd Henry - the Washington/Oregon Tourette Sydrome Association President in attendance. Todd informed us that Kenny has been selected to represent the Washington/Oregon Chapter to attend the National Tourette Syndrome Youth Ambassador/Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. this March. With this selection he has also received a full ride scholarship to pay for expenses to attend the conference. While at the conference he will go to Capital Hill to meet with our State Senators and Representatives to educated them about Tourette Syndrome. I am so proud of my boy!
